# 3. Applying Rules To Quick Checks

> Apply Custom Rules to Quick Checks

## Introduction

As Quick Checks are added to websites, they will get different Quick Check IDs based on their location. Those Quick Checks can then be assigned rules. While not required, it's highly recommended to apply custom rules against your Quick Checks. By default each Quick Check will have the CATCHALL rule applied. This rule can be customized, but it will apply to every Quick Check unless there is a custom rule created and applied specifically to a subset of Quick Checks. To access these configurations, please go to the [Quick Check Configurations](https://webownerportal.botbuster.io/captcha-configuration-rules) page.

### Installed Quick Checks Table

Once Quick Checks have been added, this table lists their locations. Each Quick Check has an ID and will show up automatically in this table once the code/tag has been added correctly to the webpage's HTML file. The status column shows if the Quick Check is enabled and can be disabled at any time. Disabled Quick Checks do not show up on the page. The Quick Checks can be searched in the search by their Action ID text. The Custom Rule Applied column shows if and what custom rule is applied. If a Quick Check does not get any test submissions for more than 5 days it can be removed from this table. To add it back, only the webpage with that Quick Check code needs to be viewed in a browser and that Quick Check triggered.

This table is where custom Quick Check rules are managed. These rules determine which configurations apply to which Quick Checks. There is always a CATCHALL rule which will be applied to Quick Checks that don't have custom rules, but it is highly recommended to create custom rules. Each Quick Check is assigned a [submission type](https://botbuster.io/docs/glossary.md) and each submission type has preset security settings available for it. A Rule can either be applied to one or more URLs or to one or more specific Quick Check IDs. Rules can be added or deleted by checking the boxes of the rows to remove and pressing the delete button. [Rules](https://botbuster.io/docs/website-owner/QuickCheckSettings.md) are enabled and disabled by toggling the status switch. Only enabled rules will take effect. If a Quick Check has all of its custom rules disabled, the CATCHALL rule will take effect. To modify a Configuration Rule, click on the pencil icon of its row.
